3. Approval of Agenda: 1. Moved by Jim Bakker & seconded by Judy Smith that the agenda be approved. Carried
1. Minutes of the October 17th meeting: Moved by Ellen Wilson & seconded by Jim Bakker that the minutes be approved as circulated.
2. Business arising from minutes: None.
3. Correspondence: i. e-mail from Karagh O’Neill, Stirling asking for the Chamber’s support for a “Mystery Shopper” Programme. All Present felt we should support this initiative. ii. Letter from the OPP warning of “physhing” ( using phony web sites to acquire personal information). iii. Wendy Chesworth of. 55 Plus magazine is looking at including an article on Comfort Country for their spring issue. She is looking for photos and upcoming events from local groups to include in this feature.
4. Business arising from correspondence: None
5. Financial Report: There is $1991.09 in the bank. A bill for 97.44 for decoration of the Market square has been paid. There are six paid up members for 2007.
6. Old Business: i. Madoc & District Main Street Initiative: Is proceeding . The “Branding” phase of is now underway.
ii. Community Radio: More people are becoming involved and a programme guide will be available for regular time slots.
iii. Comfort Country ... At a Glance: Proceeding
iv. Market Square events: November 25th, 5:00 p.m. will be the time set aside for the Christmas Light exchange sponsored by Hydro One. There will be a barbecue at the market square starting at 5:30 with proceeds going to the Canada Day Committee. The Santa Claus parade starts at 7:00 p.m. The Market vendors are going to supply a larger bulletin board at the Market square for the posting of community events notices.
v. Santa Claus Parade: Everything is proceeding well. Claudine Prosper is asking for nothing more than a little recognition for her all her hard work. It was decided that all volunteers would be listed and acknowledged. A reporter from the local newspapers will be asked to cover the parade.
vi. Economic Development: This committee has not met for awhile. Background work is being done and the signage is being worked on. The municipality has referred requests for commercial signage for the 7/62 intersection to the Chamber of Commerce. We agreed that we could offer assistance to local businesses interested in pursuing this but could not lead such a project because of the present workload.
10. Next Meeting: Tuesday, January 16th, 7:30 p.m. at the Madoc Public Library.
