3. Approval of Agenda: 1. Moved by Ellen Wilson & seconded by Richard Peck that the agenda with the addition of reports of the “Celebration of the Trails” by Rob Price, Upcoming seminars by Jim Bakker, and The Skatepark by Judy Smith be approved. Carried.
4. Minutes of the October 17th meeting: Moved by Ellen Wilson & seconded by Jim Bakker that the minutes be approved with the clarification that the Chamber will NOT act on behalf of individual businesses on the placement of billboard signs at the Highway 7 & 62 intersection.
5. Business arising from minutes: None.

8. Financial Report: There is $4453.85 in the bank. There are 52 paid members to date for 2007. New lights for the 2007 Santa Float have been purchased using the Santa Claus Parade funds. Moved by Judy Smith and seconded by Ellen Wilson that the Financial Statement for 2006 be approved. Carried (Copy attached.)
9. Old Business: i. Madoc & District Main Street Initiative: This will be an interesting year. Branding, Banners and Streetscapes are beginning to happen. The High School will helping with the design and building of new garbage receptacles and window boxes.
ii. Community Radio: Is gaining ground with more advertisers. It still needs more community participation.
iii. Comfort Country ... At a Glance: Mandy McBeath has been hired on a short term contract to work on adding community events listing for the upcoming year for publication in this periodical as well as on the Comfort Country Website. Madoc and Marmora are doing well providing information, Stirling and Tweed are lagging. The attempt is to make this area a destination location. Advertising is coming in.
iv. Market Square events: The Grand opening is planned for May 19 th weekend. It is planned to unveil the new murals this weekend. A tentative list of events for the summer was presented.
v. 55 Plus Magazine: Needs events for an article “Spring in Comfort Country. Advertisers are also needed.
vi. Service Club Signage: Wings for the “Welcome to Madoc” signs will be finalized later. Service groups will supply the signs.
vii. Economic Development: Shelby Kramp, Councillor, has supported the idea of “community improvement initiatives” with council support. Similar to the plans in Stirling , it possibly would include either matching grants or interest free loans for facade improvements or building renovations.
10. New Business: i. Budget for 2007It was suggested the Chamber prepare a wish list for presentation to the Municipal Council for consideration in their upcoming budget sessions. Judy Smith will write the letter asking for funding for more work on tourism marketing, as well as asking for consideration for better and more visible office space.
ii. CC Intern: Mandy McBeath has been hired to search out coming events for “Comfort Country ... At A Glance” , updating the Comfort Country Website and expand its content and if time allows, to work on a series of tourist brochures centred on historical (heritage) tours, antique tours, and family recreation.
iii. Celebration of the Trails: a great success in 2006. Peterborough Community Futures will organize it again for 2007 and will need letters of support from area municipalities.
iv. Seminars: Jim Bakker is doubtful about having a tax seminar this year, but is planning a breakfast meeting for early March instead.
v. Skatepark: There will be a Yard sale for the Skatepark the May 24 th weekend at the Smith's house on Durham St. S. There will be four people hired by the park this summer (one supervisor, two for the canteen, and one for rentals and maintenance. Plans are also being made for another summer camp.
11. Next meeting: February 20 th , 7:30 p.m. at the library.
