7. Business arising from correspondence: None

8. Financial Report:  There is $2531 in the bank. Our insurance of $1134.00 has been paid in full.

9. Old Business:  i.   Madoc & District  Main Street Initiative:  The summit held in Marmora on September 18 th was a great success with 130 people attending.  Many of these people were from areas outside Comfort Country who are interested in our progress to date.  As a further discussion on funding for Madoc initiatives, at the last meeting it was decided that new, more decorative waste receptacles be placed in the downtown core.  Lacking funds to have them built, it was proposed that volunteers be asked to construct them.  It was then suggested that the high school be contacted and perhaps have a class design and build waste receptacles out of recycled material.

ii.  Community Radio:  It is now on air at 100.7 on the FM Dial.  Plans are in the works to raise the transmitter tower another 15 feet to increase the range of the signal.  This is a Not-for-profit operation and volunteers are needed to fill a variety of roles. From selling advertising, production and on-air announcing.  If you are interested, contact Jim Bakker at the Chamber of Commerce.

i. Comfort Country ... At a Glance:  If this format is to be continued, it will be more of a community events calendar than a business directory.  We will need to know in advance of next year's publication date, the up-coming events to be scheduled for 2007.

ii. Market Square events: Only three weeks left and the  marketers have considered the summer a success.  Cliff and Mary Andrews thank the Madoc merchants for their support over the season.

iii. Economic Development:  Signage:  After a presentation made by Jim Bakker at the last Centre Hastings Council meeting, the Council agreed to pay the cost of adding framework to the existing Welcome signs that will accommodate signs listing major community groups.  Each group will provide their own sign, and at the same time will help sponsor signs from junior organizations such as Boy Scouts.  There will be room for ten signs on each frame, and each group will need to provide two signs.   Centre Hastings council is also looking at placing signs at the highway 7 & 62  intersection indicating the way to the downtown and the skatepark.  Signage throughout the village is to upgraded as well.

iv. Welcome Packages:  These kits were designed to hold advertising and other promotional material to be given out to new visitors to the area to help acquaint them with businesses in the community.  These will need to be coordinated for next year.

10. New Business:  i.  Welcome Wagon:  Two new coordinators for the area are needed:  Toni & John Murrell are moving their farm the Prince Edward County .  The area manager is interviewing new candidates soon.

ii. Governance Seminar:  This is sponsored by the CFDC Bancroft, and is designed as an information session for people who serve as volunteers on boards of directors.  It will be held, Tuesday, Sept. 26 th , 1:00to8:00 p.m., at the Two Loons, Madoc. contact Jim Bakker at the Chamber of Commerce of Community Futures (613-332-5564) by Sept 22 nd if you wish to attend.

iii. Santa Claus Parade:  This will be held  Saturday, Nov. 25 th at 7:00 p.m. As in past years volunteers are needed to help.
