The following changes will take place in the park in 2008:
Tourist Booth: A new tourist booth will be constructed at the entrance to the skatepark. It will be constructed by Whippletree Post and Beam. The booth will be 15 ft x 28 ft including a 7 ft porch. The building will sit on a cement pad and be a post & beam structure. The front of the booth will face the canteen. The outside of the building will be board and batten and the inside will be T&G. The inside of the building will be fully serviced with telephone, internet access, heating and air conditioning.
Digital Information Sign: This sign will be located at the corner of Durham St. S. and Seymour St. at the first entrance into the park. It will use the existing industrial sign as its frame.

Community Arts Centre: We are pleased to announce that Fleming College is coming to town. Twenty-six students, under the direction of Chris Magwood will participate in the Sustainable Building Program offered by Fleming College. This program has been in operation for 4 years and this is the first time that Fleming College has allowed the program to move away from its campus area. This building will be unique in Canada. Access the power point slide presentation and see for yourself!

The following changes will take place in the park on condition that we receive funding from our grant application to the Ontario Trillium Foundation and several other grant applications that have been submitted this year: Splash Pad:
The splash pad is a spray park. The splash pad will be 4000 sq ft in a kidney shape. It will have a recirculating water system with UV disinfection. The water consumption of a recyclable water system is 25% of the usage of a potable water system. The park is operated with push button action and has low flow nozzles. The amount of water that is used on a daily basis is controlled by the park. The splash pad will be fenced with green space and rocks between the fence and the pad.
This splash pad will have washrooms and change rooms.
The splash pad will have the same unique quality as the skatepark, playground, community arts centre, and canteen.
After checking the usage in two splash pads in eastern Ontario, we can expect that this splash pad will attract at least 200 people on a warm summer day. |
