3. Agenda was approved with the addition of news from CFDC and a
discussion of Doors Open Ontario, both under new business

4. Shawn Wood & Brandon Marlin presented the Chamber of Commerce and
Brenda Rump with certificates of appreciation, thanking us for our
support of the Madoc Boy Scout Jamboree, held in August. Special thanks
went to Brenda, whose hard work and co-operation made the event a
success. Plans are underway for a bigger and better event for next
year.

5. Judy Smith updated the Chamber on the Skatepark progress. Fill has
been brought in, and the leveling and packing will soon begin. The
committee is still about $50,000 short of its target and fund raising
still continues with a clean-up of the village slated for October 2nd.
Pledges can be made to individuals or groups who are going around the
village picking up litter. October 9th, the Skatepark committee will be
sponsoring a fall festival at the Madoc Market.

6. Patricia Wiggins, on behalf of Kathy Herrold of "Changes", has
reiterated their interest in having a mural placed on the side wall of
the "Changes" building. The concept of a map was mentioned and Patricia
will take that idea back to Kathy. Sponsors will also be needed to
cover costs.

7. Kelly Foxton made a presentation on behalf of the Centre Hastings
Arts and Culture Task Force Committee. For the upcoming year they have
four major activities planned. The first is an annual "Comfort Country
Christmas" to be held at the Madoc Cultural Centre November 24 to 29,
2004. The second activity is the publication of a quarterly
newsletter. Thirdly, the committee is planning for next summer's "Art
in the Park" . Lastly they would like to co-ordinate a Group of Seven
painting exhibit for the village. For more information contact Kelly
Foxton at White Pines Studio (473-0902). The Cultural Committee would
also like to work with the Chamber in using the Library & Cultural
Centre in setting up revolving displays of local artists' work.

8. & 9. Minutes of the last meeting were read. Moved by Ellen Wilson
and Seconded by Judy Smith the minutes be approved. Carried.

10 . Business arising from he minutes.- none.

11. & 12. Correspondence: i. Letter from the Market Vendors has been
dealt with by the executive in a closed meeting.
ii. Letter from Shirley Coveney
concerning the use of the Chamber facilities was received and filed.
iii. The Insurance bill arrived and
liability insurance is $1134.00, payment of which can be made in three
installments.

13. Financial Report: Bank Account - $583.42.

14. Old Business. i. Brenda Rump was given permission to buy
stationery and postage to send out letters asking for support for the
Santa Claus Parade ( November 27, 7:00 pm)
ii. Bob Cloes is going to contact Peter
Gooderham about the embroidery of the Market Flags and see if it is cost
effective to have the CFDC logo applied.
iii. Brenda Rump is working with the
Legion again this year to have a Remembrance Day display at the Cultural
Centre.
iv. Brenda has approached a local
ministerial conference about staging a gospel festival in the area. The
idea is being considered and they are leaning towards holding it in the
Madoc Township Facilities.

v. The Village Square construction is on
target. A committee of the Chamber met with the Project Manager and the
Architect to chose paint colours. The doors will be painted a "Cottage
red" to match the roofing tiles, and other trim and the ceilings and
the washroom and utility room walls will be painted a buff colour. A
grand opening has not yet been planned - we're waiting for completion of
the project.

15. New business: i. Rob Price announced that through the CFDC there
will be funding available for local business initiatives. More
information will be coming in October.
ii. In working with the Comfort Country
Planning Group and their plans to promote the area in "Ontario Doors
Open Brochure" the heritage buildings decided on were O'hara's mill, The
Presbyterian Church and either Cardinal Manor or if possible the Dale
Mansion if April Spatola will agree.
