Minutes of the Madoc & District Chamber of Commerce


Tuesday, June 15th, 7:30 p.m.
Madoc Cultural Centre

1. Call to order by Grant Ketcheson.

2. Present: Grant Ketcheson, President
Rob Price, Vice President
Judy Smith, Treasurer
Ellen Wilson, Secretary
Brenda Rump, Events Co-ordinator
Marie Hyde
Kelly Foxton
John MacDonnell

3. Agenda: Moved by Ellen Wilson & seconded by Rob Price that the
agenda be approved.

4. & 5. Minutes of the last meeting were read. Moved by Rob Price &
seconded by Judy Smith the minutes be approved.

6. Business arising: Market Square - Tenders for the construction
close soon. There are three possible tenders to date. It was discussed
that the market square need more promotion and the new site more clearly
marked.
: Skate Park: The Trillium Committee
seemed pleased with their meeting with the skate park committee. June
24th is the date the skate park committee should here if their grant
application is approved.
: Comfort Country directories could be out
by the end of the month. Rob and Brenda have volunteered to manage the
Centre Hastings portion of the Comfort Country web site and Rob and
Brenda will also arrange for the official unveiling of the Comfort
Country billboard by the council. Target date is June 30th.

7. Financial report: There is $1217.17 in the bank. We have 43 paid
up members. If you haven't paid your dues, they can be left with Judy
Smith at the bank.

8, New Business: The Old Town Hall has been sold - closing date is
July 9th. Grant, Rob & Brenda will work with the Municipality to move
the C. of C. Offices to the library when the library board gives its
approval. Telephone lines and internet access will have to be looked
at.
: Gayle Blakely would like to reinstate the
"Welcome Wagon" . Nancy Lee Sawkins still gets the new-comers lists
and will forward these on the Gayle who would like to make a
presentation at our next meeting.
: Kelly Foxton, on behalf of the Artisans
Guild has asked to use the Cultural Centre to hold their meetings the
first Tuesday of the month. It was moved by Rob Price and seconded by
Marie Hyde that this be approved. Kelly also promoted the "Art in the
Park" event to be held July 10 & 11. and asked to be allowed to use a
display case to exhibit the work of some of the artisans of the group.
There were no objections.

9. Upcoming events: June 30th - Street Dance sponsored by the Medical
Board.
: July 3rd. - Skate Park weekend - using
three sites in the downtown core.
: August 28th - Grand opening of the New
Market Square and the Madoc Meteorite Boy Scout jamboree.

10. Next meeting July 20th, 7:30 pm at the Madoc Cultural Centre.
