The O'Hara Mill Homestead will celebrate the opening of the 2008
season with an official opening ceremony at 1 pm , guided tours and
an opportunity to see what's planned for the summer. See the
spring progress of the heritage gardens, construction of a pioneer
log house in progress, construction of a sluiceway to waterpower the
new sawmill waterwheel. See wildflowers on O'Hara's magnificent
nature trails. Come experience nature at it's best in a venue steeped

O'HARA DINNER AUCTION Saturday evening, June 14:
The O'Hara Mill Homestead Dinner & Auction is presented by the
Management Board of the O'Hara Volunteers Association and is
held at Madoc Township Hall at Eldorado. The evening begins at 6
pm with a social hour and auction item viewing, followed by a Roast
Beef Dinner prepared by the Harts Rigg's Women's Institute. There
are silent auctions (with random closings), a live auction with Boyd
Sullivan, and door prizes. Seats are limited, this event sells out early.

PRE-CANADA DAY PARTY Sunday, June 29:
Come celebrate the birth of our nation in a setting rich in it's
history. O'Hara Mill Homestead will host a get-together that includes
a look into our past, demonstrations of arts and crafts that have
stood the test of time, and performances by local entertainers. This
event runs from 10 am to 4 pm. It begins with the raising of the flag,
singing of " O Canada", followed by events such as colouring
contests and challenges for the young and young at heart. An
opportunity to step back and taste the heritage of the area, a
chance to taste some Canada Day cake. For more information,

Take a step back in time at the O'Hara Mill Homestead Heritage
Day. Guided tours of our pioneer buildings-- O'Hara homestead,
blacksmith shop, carriage house, woodworking shop, schoolhouse,
waterpowered sawmill, antique machinery sheds, log house. Pioneer
crafts such as weaving, spinning, blacksmithing, shingle-making,
log hewing, etc. Enjoy a hotdog or a hamburger while listening to our
home-grown entertainment. Guided tours of our beautiful nature trails.
Admission $2 for adults, $1 for children. Free parking. For more

Looking for something to do on those lazy, hazy days of summer?
Come and experience the warmth and charm of a heritage homestead
while enjoying succulent corn on the cob cooked to perfection over an
open fire with maple syrup. A great opportunity to gather with friends
and family while being entertained by fabulous local entertainment. A
chance to visit various pioneer buildings and chat with members of the
O'Hara Volunteers Association. This event runs from 4pm to 8pm.

The Anchor of Hope Crisis Pregnancy Clinic is now open to aid women
experiencing pregnancy problems by providing information, practical
guidance, encouragement, and support during difficult times. Where a
pregnancy could be seen as a problem because of physical, emotional,
economic, social or untimely factors, the Anchor of Hope is always
there to assist you. All services and information are confidential and
without cost. The Anchor of Hope is a locally organized and funded

The Madoc Seniors' Club invites all senior citizens to meet with them

in Madoc. On the first and third Tuesdays of each month join them
at 1:00 P.M. to play cards with a most convivial company. On
the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month there will be a
potluck luncheon at noon followed by a short meeting at 1:00 P.M. and
Bid Euchre. All seniors are welcome.

| Madoc Market Vendors Association are currently seeking any and all people that are interested in becoming a vendor for the 2008 season i.e. art , craft , produce woodworking etc. Any community / service groups that are interested in raising their profile are also encouraged to confirm a date to insure their spot for the Saturday morning market .
Registration will take place on Wednesday the 9th of April at 1:00 PM . at St. Peters church , which is located at the intersection of St Lawrence Street W. and St Peters Street in Madoc . Please note that the back door will serve as our entrance . The registration will be located in the basement . TRINITY UNITED CHURCH LUNCH BUNCH
Thurs. Jan 31 and continuing weekly throughout the winter months - Trinity United Church (76 St. Lawrence St. E; Madoc) Lunch Bunch lunches start up again for the winter season at Trinity from 11:15- 1:00 in the lower hall accessed by using the side entrance on Davidson Street, and going down the ramp. We are fully wheel chair and handicapped accessible . These on-going weekly lunches continue throughout the winter. The light lunch (soup/chilli/bread) is $2.50 per person; the special lunch (hot meal ) is $5.00 per person; desserts are $1.00 per person. MADOC WESLEYAN AND FREEE METHODIST CHURCH
The After-School Children's Program starts up again this Wednesday, Jan. 23 @ 2:45pm with leader Lee Ann Rodgers. This program runs every Wednesday from 2:45pm to 4pm. The message is "Finding new life with Jesus Christ" for all kids ages 6-12. Music, games, snacks, Bible stories & lessons, crafts and more. All Children Welcome.
The Alpha Program will be offered once again starting Wednesday, Jan. 16 @ 6pm. This is a 12 week course for anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith. Adults of all ages are welcome. Dessert & coffee will be served. Please phone the church to sign up for this program.

The Centre Hastings Fire Department extends a
special thank you to all who participated, and contributed, to our Boot
Drive for Muscular Dystrophy, on November 4, 2006. We raised $4,192.00
for the kids. We look forward to seeing you all next year, same place,
same time. Thank you.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The Quinte Therapeutic Riding Association needs
volunteers for its spring program. Must be over 14 years of age, have
transportation and be able to commit to three hours per week for 12
weeks to help in the lessons by grooming horses and sidewalking with
riders, assisting riders with exercises and games. Training provided.
