Fire restrictions go into effect as of April 1 and are in effect until October 31. No open air burning will be allowed between the hours of 7am and 7pm.

Carman Donato and three youth from his team accepted the Youth Initiative Award on behalf of the Centre Hastings Skatepark at the Ontario Association of Community Futures Development Corporation’s (OACFDC) 15th Annual Conference held in Stratford recently.

SEEDY SATURDAY

Madoc’s first Seedy Saturday will take place at O’Hara Mill Homestead on Saturday morning, May 3rd. The gate opens at 9am. Everyone with a green or brown thumb is invited to join in - backyard gardeners, plant collectors, seed savers, conservationists, small farmers and market gardeners. See the pictures and article.


THE MADOC TOWNSHIP RECREATION ASSOCIATION PROVIDES $10,000 TO LOCAL CAUSES
The Madoc Twp. recreation association dispersed its savings from 15yrs of operation.

The Tri-area Medical Centre received, $2,500, and the Heart of Hastings Hospice, Community Care and the Helping Hands food bank each $1,000 and $500 to the breakfast program at the township public school. $4,000 went to support the Eldorado ball field and baseball league, now numbering to over 100 youth and 6 adult teams.

FURTHER CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE TRI-AREA MEDICAL CENTRE
Hockey may be over but the giving continues.  The Thursday Night Raiders Old Timers Hockey Team presents $1,000.00 to the Tri- Area Medical Centre Fund Raising Team.

Andrew Bacon on behalf of his parents JoAnn and Dennis along with  staff of Home Hardware. A cheque for $1,056.00 was presented for the sale of Natura Cloths brought in as a fund raiser for the Medical Centre.

TRI-AREA MEDICAL CENTRE
INVITATION TO CONSTRUCTION TRADES



The new 12,000 sq ft Medical Centre to be constructed in the Village of Madoc this year is a cooperative effort among the three Municipalities of Tudor - Cashel, Madoc Township and Centre Hastings.

In acknowledgement that this is a building for all residents of the three Municipalities, it is the strong desire of the project team to involve local trades and companies wherever possible.

MORE BUSINESSES COME ON BOARD SUPPORTING THE NEW TRI-AREA MEDICAL CENTRE

McDoug all Insurance gave $1,500. Connie Robinson, manager for McDougall Insurance, along with Arlene MacFadyen and Mary Bonter do their part for helping the fund raising thermometer rise.

One Stop Butcher Shop donated $1,000. Tim Toms, owner of One Stop Butcher Shop , Agnus Bruce and Joel Dennis are shown in thsi picture. Tim Toms,  owner of One Stop Butcher Shop is proud to take part in the Fund Raising for the New Medical Centre as his way of celebrating his 15th year in business.

 
V& S gave $500.00 as part of the sales for the day in December 2007. This picture shows Robin Wilson, the retail manager of the V&S, and Kelly Trotter with Wally Sawkins.

Grant Ketcheson, Board of Director and Insurance Adjuster for Bay of Quinte Mutual Insurance Company presents a cheque for $2500.00 towards the fundraising efforts of the Tri Area Medical Centre.

Doug Hunter Ford cuts a cheque for car sales.

Doug Hunter Ford launched a campaign which ran through the month of November until Dec. 15 th . A donation was tabulated in the amount of $50.00 for every new or used car sold. Doug Hunter presented a cheque in the amount of $2,050.00.

Craig's Car Clinic donates to Tri Area Medical Centre.

Craig Horton operated a busy shop during his fundraising campaign for the Tri Area Medical Centre. During the month of November right up till Dec. 15 th,  Craig put aside $10.00 from every undercoating he completed. The company did 18 undercoats for cars and presented a cheque in the amount of  $180.00.

The Municipality of Centre Hastings is proud to announce the creation of a virtual art gallery on this site to recognize, highlight and promote the arts in Centre Hastings.  To catch your first view of this valuable addition to our web site CLICK HERE.

This art gallery is available to any artisan or artist in Centre Hastings at no cost.  Email up to 6 pictures of your work to info@tanapics.com.

Along with the pictures please provide the following contact information: your name, your studio name (if there is one), your phone number, fax number (if applicable), your email and web site information (if available), your mailing address, and your location address.  Also create a short (less than 25 words) description of what arts you create.  This information will be displayed in the virtual art gallery to promote your works and to allow the viewers to make contacts with you and your studio.  The displays will rotate throughout the year giving the maximum number of artists exposure.  There will be no permanent displays in the gallery, and displays will be rotated as the web master identifies the needs for change.

MAIN STREET REVITALIZATION INITIATIVE WINS AN AWARD
The Main Street Revitalization Initiative was nominated for the award by the Community Futures Development Corporation of North & Central Hastings and South Algonquin, located in Bancroft. Manager Bob Cloes says that the project was initiated to build on the strengths of the four communities. “In an environment of increasing commercial vacancy and rising unemployment, in just two and a half short years, the Main Street Revitalization Initiative has been successful” Cloes adds. He cites among the many improvements: retaining, expanding and attracting businesses; hosting various business workshops; formulating a commercial recruitment strategy; creating a new branding strategy; and rehabilitating downtown property.

CARD PARTY DONATION
On April 9 2008 Reeve Tom Deline was invited by the Card Party Group to attend at the Catholic Church Hall in Madoc to collect a cheque in the amount of $120.00 for the Tri-Area Medical Centre Building Fund. The Group meets to play cards and visit and to raise funds. Tom was advised that the Group will be meeting again April 30 2008 and at that time will be having a silent auction, to raise more money for the new Medical Centre building.

COMMUNITY ARTS CENTRE

Madoc - The Municipality of Centre Hastings has signed an agreement to construct a Community Arts Centre in the skatepark complex. The building will be constructed by Fleming College under the direction of Chris Magwood.

STUDENTS HELP WITH TRAIL MAINTENANCE

Another partnership in the making. Centre Hasting High School Students from the Bridges program partnered with the Committee of The Trail of Two Lakes and the Municipality of Centre Hastings to do preventative maintenance (brushing) along the trails and road intersections of the ATV and Snowmobile trail in Centre Hastings.
