VISITS COUNCIL MEETING
Chelsea Freeman from St. Theresa Secondary School attended Wednesday's Council Meeting as part of her Civics course.
CENTRE HASTINGS OLYMPIC SITE ON DISPLAY IN DOWNTOWN MADOC
Deputy Reeve Tom Simpson along with Madoc Public School, Emmanuel Christian Academy and Centre Hastings Secondary School transformed a vacant store into the Centre Hastings Olympic Site.
With the permission of Robin Wilson, manager of the closed V&S Store, the three schools decorated windows, each with their impression of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Windows were painted, posters put up and 2010 artefacts displayed.
Deputy Reeve Simpson sponsored the "We Believe " sign as well as put on display his 1988 Winter Olympic souvenirs. Local resident Diane Brick contributed a display of her daughter-in-law Susan O'Connor/Brick of the Women's Olympic Curling Team.

FRENCH BREAKFAST FUNDRAISER
A BIG SUCCESS!
The Emmanuel Christian Academy hosted a French Breakfast as a fundraiser to send the Senior Class to Quebec Carnival.
Principal Tammy McEwen welcomed the crowd of over a 100 to Maison des Crepes (French Breakfast) and thanked the special guests for attending the function: MP Daryl Kramp, M.P.P. Leona Dombrowski, Education Minister, Reeve Tom Deline and Deputy Reeve Tom Simpson. She stated that the students had taken to heart the Bible verse found in Colossians 3:23 .. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart for the Lord.
The students pulled together as a team in an effort to raise $2,600 for the trip. With the overflow of generosity from local groups, merchants and parents they raised a net amount of $3,825.91. As well as the breakfast students raised funds by doing odd jobs around the area.
Reeve Deline and Deputy Reeve Simpson were kept busy serving refreshments while the students served the crepes to the supporters.
Thanks was given to the many parents who generously donated time and energy in kitchen and for their donations to the students. The Morall Family were given a special thanks for helping put together the silent auction and donations that they gave.
Thanks to Team T.N.T. (Dynomite) Tom Simpson, Nat Morall for heading up the Silent Auction, gathering donations and selling many tickets for the function.

The gathering this morning was to announce the launch of the Annual Raffle for Community Care for Central Hastings. The Annual Raffle and our Dinner Auction combine to be our major fundraising effort held once a year. This year the Raffle will be drawn May 1st at the Madoc Township Recreation Hall, during our Dinner Auction.
The donors to the Raffle gave generously and without hesitation when approached by committee members.
1st prize is an 8’x8’ Garden Shed with a value of $1,100.00 donated generously by Brian Forestall of Madoc Tim-br Mart;
2nd prize is an original framed oil painting by local artist Noreen Alexander (who approached Wally to donate) an estimated value of $350.00; and
3rd prize is a 30,000 BTU barbeque, donated without hesitation by Dennis and Joanne Bacon of Madoc Home Hardware with a value of $159.99.
Community Care for Central Hastings Foundation are fortunate and grateful to have the community support of the merchants and individuals who have made our raffle possible. Community Care for Central Hastings would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the generous donors from our 2009 Raffle and Dinner Auction, it was the most successful ever. We are currently preparing our mailing to businesses and individuals requesting donations for this year’s silent and live auction in hopes for the same success as last year.

NATIVITY PROCESSION THROUGH MADOC
On Sunday December 13th almost 30 members of the Madoc church community traveled on foot through Madoc, from Trinity United Church to the new Arts Centre singing a lovely arrange of holiday tunes. The group was joined by a local boy, Johnny Leveque playing a drum while greeted by local residents as they passed by their homes. After their long journey through town they came to rest at the Arts Centre enjoying a cup of hot chocolate, great homemade cookies, and great company of two sheep, a mother donkey and her baby. All participants enjoyed social time and exploration of the Arts Centre.
We look forward to having everyone out next year, look for advertisement next December.
Special Thanks goes out to Gord and Mary Summerville for organizing such a great event.
We would also like to thank, Peter Haisma for donating the great animals, Richard Peck for preparing the hot chocolate, our local OPP for proving supervision along the roads, and to the local media for once again showing great support for the Centre Hastings community.
POLAR EXPRESS MOVIE
On Friday December 11th Arts Centre Hastings presented The Polar Express on their state of the art projector, screen, and sound system, sponsored by Centre Theatre in Trenton. The Arts Centre had two showings of the famous holiday movie that was enjoyed by children and adults of all ages. Each showing provided the visitors with light refreshments and cookies during an intermission and a draw to win tickets to see a show at the Centre Theatre in Trenton.

TEDDY BEAR CHRISTMAS AT ARTS CENTRE HASTINGS, MADOC
The Arts Centre was a buzz with live music at the Teddy Bear Christmas, on the morning of Thursday, December 10th. The event was presented by Arts Centre Hastings, at the new Arts Centre, in the Skatepark.
Moms, dads, and tot's enjoyed live music performed by Jamie Sharpe with the Music and Drama Students from Centre Hastings Secondary School and Chris Burke, director of Youth Unlimited.
During the intermission volunteers from Arts Centre Hastings served hot chocolate and cookies to the guests. The event ended with a special visit from Santa.
CENTRE HASTINGS PARK GRAND LIGHTING

On Saturday, November 21st Centre Hastings Park was re-opened after being closed for the season to celebrate The Grand Lighting of the Park.
The park buildings were all covered with LED lights, and there was live entertainment in the Arts Centre Hastings building. The first group on the stage was Emmanuel Christian Academy (grades K-7) who delighted spectators with a Christmas musical and dramatic presentation.
Then the Madoc Men's Chorus performed classic Christmas carols, followed by the Bay of Quinte Sweet Adelines chorus. The Sweet Adelines performed a cappella harmony and many popular show tunes.
The Park lights will go on every evening until the New Year and people are invited to walk through the park to view the lights.
Special thanks to all the volunteers who put up the LED lights and organized the show, all the performers, and local business for their support.

Residents of Centre Hastings will benefit from federal and provincial infrastructure funding announced Daryl Kramp, MP and The Honourable Minister Leona Dombrowsky, MPP.
"Our Government is getting shovels in the ground here in Centre Hastings and getting the economy moving as part of Canada's Economic Action Plan," said Mr. Kramp. "We are helping to create jobs today by investing in this project and creating safer and healthier communities."
"Local infrastructure improvements are essential for rural economic development and job creation," said Minister Dombrowsky. "By working with our federal and municipal partners we are building stronger and more vibrant communities in Centre Hastings."
The Centre Hastings funding will be used to construct a new municipal office and council chambers. The governments of Canada and Ontario will each invest up to $315,000 to the project. Federal and Provincial funding for this project will come from the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund which provides funding to provincial, territorial and municipal construction ready Infrastructure rehabilitation projects that will be built during the 2009 and 2010 construction seasons.
The Governments of Canada and Ontario are investing close to $11 billion in joint funding for more than 2,600 projects through such programs as the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund, Building Canada Fund, - Communities Component and Major Infrastructure Component, Knowledge Infrastructure Program and RINC/Ontario REC. These historical investments will help support job creation and strengthen Ontario's economy.

The 385 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps took great pride in demonstrating their skills to proud parents, dignitaries and guests.
Karen Jones Past President of the Madoc Kiwanis Club, was honoured to be the Reviewing Officer this year.
Commanding Officer Capt. Sharlene Matacheskie thanked the many supporters of the corps. She congratulated the troops on another successful year.
Cadet Commander CWO Michael Allore joined the corp at age 12 and 7 years later he became the Cadet Commander. He shared the following comments with the young cadets "Do your best at everything you do. Follow in the footsteps of those who have gone before you and listen carefully to what they tell you".

CENTRE HASTINGS PARKS, RECREATION AND CULTURAL COMMITTEE UNVEILS THE OFFICAL LOGO

Rosanna McNaueal was announced the winner of the Centre Hastings Parks, Recreation, and Culture Committee (CHPRCC) at the Madoc Market on May 30th. Rosanna was awarded with a cash prize of $50 donated by the Madoc Market Vendors Association, and a framed picture of the logo donated by Madoc's Deer Creek Studios.
There were beautiful logos submitted, and it was a difficult decision for the judges to choose only one winner. In the end the judges felt that Rosanna's entry best represented the Committee. The CHPRCC would like to thank everyone who made this contest possible and for the creative artwork that was submitted.
The logo will be incorporated into business cards, letter heads, and all promotional materials. Rosanna's logo will define the many Parks, Recreation and Culture events and activities that The Municipality of Centre Hastings has to offer.

Children join in with dance and song, and have a choice of percussion and musical instruments on hand. Shari & Jerry have been performing to family audiences across Canada more than two decades. Their versatility on a variety of instruments creates a full band sound and smooth vocal blend. Though the performance is geared to ages two years to twelve, it is an impressive performance for any age group.
