It was a night to remember and a performance of a lifetime for the nearly 200 people who crowded into Trinity United Church on November 8th. Audience members were enthralled by the musical talent of headliners soprano Katie Hinchliffe and violinist Sebastian Sallans.

Andrew Bacon had approached the Fundraising Committee previously with an idea to raise money for the New Medical Centre.

Katie, Andrew and Sebastian were recognized through the office of MP Daryl Kramp for their involvement in the community fundraising.

Deputy Reeve Tom Simpson said “as a community we are fortunate not only to have so much talent but also to witness energy and inspiration of the future generation”.

TRI AREA MEDICAL CENTRE CONSTRUCTION APPROVED

On Monday night, July 14, the Medical Centre Board accepted an offer from the Municipality of Centre Hastings to fund a portion of the construction costs.

This means the construction of the new Medical Centre will start this summer, with occupancy planned for Spring 2009.

" We are delighted the many months of design planning and fund raising efforts will have paid off, as we see construction equipment roll on the site this summer" said Board Chair Dave Schulz. " This is wonderful news for all residents with two new Doctors ( one in 2009 and the second in 2010 ) joining Drs. Yorston and Webb in the new building, along with the other Family Health Team staff. This will do much to address patient wait times for appointments".

Fund raising will still continue as construction is underway, to meet the Medical Board's $ 1.1 million share of the overall $ 2.5 million construction costs.

The new Centre will be named the TRI AREA MEDICAL CENTRE, to recognize the continuing health care partnership among the three Municipalities of Tudor and Cashel, Madoc Township and Centre Hastings, which have a long standing involvement in the operation of the existing 35 year old Clinic. That Clinic building will be sold, with the proceeds going towards the cost of the new Centre.
