August 20th 2018 – Quinte Conservation Low Water Level Notice: A Level 2 Low Water Condition has been issued for the Salmon River Watershed. The Moira, Napanee, and Prince Edward Watersheds remain in a Level 1 Low Water Condition. Localized rains over the last few weeks have helped to relieve some stress in areas. Recent rainfall has helped to revitalize grass and vegetation, but has had a minimal impact on water flows and levels. August 9th 2018 – Fire Ban Lifted: The fire ban has been lifted, please follow the Fire By-Law and burn responsibly. The details of the fire by-law can be found by clicking the link: fire by-law

August 7th 2018 – The Municipality of Centre Hastings has completed a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) study to address water supply challenges in the Village of Madoc and determine the preferred solution for ensuring a reliable municipal drinking water supply to meet existing demand and support future growth. July 27th 2018 –  restricted burn bans are now in place for the Municipality of Tweed, Stirling-Rawdon Township, Municipality of Centre Hastings, and Madoc Township. Restricted burning means that small, contained campfires and outdoor cooking are permitted but no other burning is allowed. Restricted burning is between the hours of 7:00 p.m and 7:00 a.m. only. Burn bans will continue to be posted on signs and Fire Chiefs in all four municipalities/townships listed will continue to monitor conditions closely and adjust burn bans as needed.

Residents and visitors are asked to be attentive in ensuring that all smoking materials are fully and carefully extinguished. If you have additional questions please contact your municipality directly.

July 13th 2018Madoc Heritage Day on July 21st is fast approaching!

Please note that to accommodate the event there will be some road closures on Saturday July 21st.

From 8am – 4pm a section of Champlain Street surrounding Bronson Parkette will be closed, and from 6pm – 11:30pm St. Lawrence Street East will be closed from Durham Street to Davidson Street (see map).

Extreme heat can be dangerous for everyone please check on friends, family and neighbours. People who work outdoors, the elderly, some people with disabilities, and children, particularly infants, are more vulnerable.

Safety Tips

If you feel dizzy, weak or overheated:

  • go to a cool place;
  • sit or lie down;
  • drink water;
  • wash your face & arms with cool water.

If you don’t feel better soon, seek medical help immediately

June 4th 2018- Saturday’s Swimming Lessons and Sports Camp Registration Day was a huge success, but if you missed it do not worry! Registration is open at the Municipality of Centre Hastings Office from 8:30am-4:00pm every Monday to Thursday and from 8:30am-1:30pm on Fridays. You can also register at the Madoc Pool starting June 20th.
