| Foundations 15th Anniversary |
| On behalf of the volunteers and Youth I would like to thank the local businesses, agencies, services and individuals, that have generously supported Foundations, for the past 15 years. We are not government funded and we have no paid employees and yet thanks to caring individuals, we have offered food, friendship and faith to literally thousands of Youth over the last 15 years! Last Thursday, December 8th was our big day! We held an open house from 11 am until 2 pm! There were over 50 youth and adults! We went through 3 beef roasts and I had to quickly cook up 6 steaks we had in the freezer! The atmosphere of peace and love and joy was tangible! The two reporters who came appeared surprised and moved- Deputy Reeve Tom Simpson, on behalf of the Council presented us with a large poinsetta and thanked us for our 15 years support of local youth. A man brought in a bushel of apples, a construction worker off the street came in and got two plates to go! Our donation can on the little table ended up with $160.00 in it. We decorated with balloons and were happy to have live music by Jaylene Treadway, a graduate of Centre Hastings. Jaylene calls it giving back for what she received while coming to Foundations during her high school years! Also playing guitar and singing was Danielle Dudgeon. Thank you girls! We did some Christmas Carols, some country, some praise and worship! An older gentleman went out and came back with a harmonica. Troy Thompson the original person that was the Director of Foundations on that very beginning day in 1996 also came with a friend from Peterborough and sang as well! We all had an amazing experience of food, friendship, faith and fun! We look forward to the continued support of the local community as we continue to feed and mentor local youth building friendship and faith, bringing hope and increasing the self confidence of our young. - Colleen MacAlister |
